SIMPly add a dark photon

چکیده

Pions of a dark sector gauge group can be strongly interacting massive particle (SIMP) matter, produced by the freeze-out $3 \to 2$ interactions, with naturally large self-interactions. We study if adding photon to set-up do it all: i) maintain thermalization visible sector, ii) resonantly enhance $3\to2$ thus allowing for perturbative pion description, and iii) provide velocity dependent self-interaction that affect small scale structure formation. For $N_f=3$ this minimal setup is marginally excluded, as required kinetic mixing too thermal equilibrium SM. Adding an extra quark opens up parameter space, -- perhaps somewhat surprisingly we find all bounds satisfied masses $m_\pi \sim 250-600\,$MeV. Dropping requirement iii), viable reproduced charges $\alpha_d = 0.01-1$ mass \geq 30$ MeV. Late time annihilations are non-negligible making SIMP bit WIMPy.

Dark matter detectors as dark photon helioscopes.

Light new particles with masses below 10 keV, often considered as a plausible extension of the standard model, will be emitted from the solar interior and can be detected on Earth with a variety of experimental tools. Here, we analyze the new "dark" vector state V, a massive vector boson mixed with the photon via an angle κ, that in the limit of the small mass mV has its emission spectrum stron...

Search for a dark photon at BABAR

We present the results of a search for a dark photon decaying to e + e − or µ + µ − in the BABAR detector [1]. We find no evidence for such a dark pho-ton and set upper limits on the dark mixing as a function mass, tightening the constraints on the parameter space of several dark sector theories. The notion of dark matter was introduced over 80 years ago by Zwicky [2]. In the intervening years,...

Ringwald Dark matter detectors built primarily to probe elastic scattering of WIMPs on nuclei are also precise probes of light, weakly coupled, particles that may be absorbed by the detector material. In this paper, we derive constraints on the minimal mod...

Search for dark photon production at BABAR

We present a search for a dark photon, a new massive vector boson interacting weakly with Standard Model particles, using data collected with the BABAR detector. No statistically significant deviations from the Standard Model predictions are seen, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the mixing strength between the photon and dark photon are set at the level of 10−4 − 10−3 for dark photon m...

Photon Production of Axionic Cold Dark Matter

Using the non-equilibrium quantum field theory, photon production from the coherently oscillating axion field in a flat Robertson-Walker cosmology is re-examined. First neglecting the Debye screening of the baryon plasma to photons , we find that the axions will dissipate into photons via spinodal instability in addition to parametric resonance. As a result of the pseudoscalar nature of the axi...
